What is the ISN Mentor Programme?
The ISN mentor programme is open to all prospective international students in Leiden.
Through the mentor programme, new students can meet Dutch students and other long-term international students, and learn more about Dutch culture and student life in the Netherlands.
The mentor programme aims to facilitate your move to The Netherlands so that you have an even more fun and rewarding stay in Leiden. If you have any questions feel free to send an e-mail to
I want a mentor.
A mentor helps international students settle in during the first couple of weeks and stay well-informed throughout the semester. Your mentor will be your guide through the popular sights and lesser known attractions in the city of Leiden.
If your mentor has the time he/she will try to meet you when you arrive and give you a hand settling in.
Your mentor is also a local contact-person you can rely on to help guide you and explain the workings of your new host country.
The mentor programme is a social programme, so besides personal help during your first weeks, you will also have fun in your mentor group.
If you are a prospective international student and you want to have a personal mentor, fill out our form.

If you’d like to experience international life in Leiden, practice your cultural skills and languages and meet cool people from all over the world, become an ISN mentor! By applying to be a mentor you will be given a group of 10-15 new international students who could all use your help and guidance as they make the transition to living in Leiden.
