The International Student Network (ISN) is part of the larger Erasmus Student Network (ESN) orgnizations and is one of the biggest interdisciplinary student associations in Europe, founded in 1989 for supporting and developing student exchange. We are present in 297 Higher Education Institutions in 32 countries. The network is constantly developing and expanding. ESN is working in Higher Education and it is offering services to 150.000 students. ESN operates on three levels, Local, National and International.
ESN works for the creation of a more mobile and flexible education environment by supporting and developing the student exchange from different levels, and providing an intercultural experience also to those students who cannot access a period abroad ("internationalisation at home")
ISN Leiden is a foundation, which means that we are a non-profit organization. IN Leiden does not have fixed members and everybody is welcome to join our activities! Just sign up at the Common Room.
The main focus of ISN is placed on all current International and exchange students in Leiden. ISN offers help in academic, social and practical integration processes. This is mainly done through activities, which include cultural and social events such as trips to various places within the Netherlands, language projects, international dinners and last but not least, parties. In addition to that, we have a mentor program, which helps the international students mainly in academic and practical integration. Check this website for more activities.
ISN also provides relevant information and encourages the future exchange students to gain the international experience and gain relevant insight to different cultures.
